For pilgrims performing Hajj or Umrah who are currently or have previously set foot in the holy land, the term ‘miqat’ is certainly familiar when performing the rituals. In the series of Hajj or Umrah rituals, miqat is one of the first pillars that must be performed before pilgrims begin the series of rituals in Masjid al-Haram.
Miqat serves as the designated place to wear the Ihram clothing and to start the intention of Ihram for performing Umrah. In other words, pilgrims are required to compensate for this act with a sacrifice or penalty if they neglect it.
The locations for performing miqat have been established by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). For those who are about to perform the pilgrimage to the holy land, let’s get to know the following miqat locations and their places!

Miqat is a mandatory part of the Hajj or Umrah rituals, serving as the place where one enters the state of Ihram. Miqat is also a place that determined by the Prophet PBUH or the caliphs who have been instructed as the starting point for the implementation of Hajj for all pilgrims from four directions.
Lalu miqah terdiri dari dua jenis, yaitu Miqat Zamani (batas waktu dan Miqat Makani (batas letak tanah). Miqat Zamani adalah ketentuan waktu untuk melaksanakan ibadah haji yang dimulai sejak 1 Syawal hingga terbit fajar di 10 Zulhijah. Semantara Miqat Makani merupakan ketentuan tempat di mana seseorang harus memulai niat haji atau umrah.

Hajj or Umrah has several places that are determined as the place where ihram begins. There are 5 locations of Miqat Makani that have been determined by the Prophet PBUH, as follows:

Dhul-Hulaifah (Abar Ali): Located about 9 kilometers from Madinah and approximately 450 kilometers from Makkah, this is the Miqat for those coming from or through Madinah

Located about 94 kilometers east of Makkah, this Miqat is for those coming from Najd, Riyadh, and other eastern regions.

Situated around 183 kilometers northwest of Makkah, this Miqat serves pilgrims coming from or passing through Syria, Egypt, North Africa, Jordan, and Lebanon
